Rest upon my roots friend Rest upon my roots Now that you have found me Please rest upon my roots Rest upon my roots Rest upon my roots Your journey carried you far By paths through wooded ways You saw my kindred swaying To the wind of ancient days Rest upon my roots Rest upon my roots Instrumental (guitar) Let your weary head fall Upon my skin of bark Your journey is at end now So let light embrace the dark Rest upon my roots Rest upon my roots When you wake from deep sleep New light upon your eyes Remember this sweet meeting In the dream that never dies Rest upon my roots Rest upon my roots Rest upon my roots Rest upon my roots

From the silent Trees From the misty hills Songs calling… All that time ago… I can hear once more Love calling…. Here I can see their dance On the Northern lands – roots growing Them – holding all that’s known – whispering their own Old stories… We’re the Ancient Ones The forgotten Sounds Light Weavers Every time your souls Turn away from Home Life withers You and a million Suns Coming down the path to find me There you and I will walk Hands of bark and moss Hearts dreaming… On a windy day You can hear our Song Leaves falling…

There I see the stream Dancing on the hills Born from the ground Into life it spills Kestrel holds the air Statue on a wing Sunlight in his eye Born from the Spring Watch the Raven soar Cutting into sky A shape above the moor A silhouette on high Stag amongst the ferns Head crowned like a king He leaps into the air Born from the Spring There it is I walk Man within a land Following the stream Cupped within my hand Watch the river run Hear the skylark sing I become like them Born from the Spring

B. I wonder if you exist… I wonder in which time, in which age I wonder where you are… in the sky, in the sun or further away I wonder what you… if fire, if light or wind I wonder what you are like… if cheerful, if just, ageless I wonder what you do… hidden within the veils of Maya (Illusion) I wonder where you go…along a thousand streams or are you the Guide B: Story of a leaf, who becomes lost and does not know For how many years, over how many lands she will have to fly To return there, from where she left, With You…

Deer becomes the hare (x 4 ) Deer becomes the hare (echoed) Deer becomes the hare (echoed) Walking on a day in Spring When blue was in the sky A hare it sprang in front of me Though a deer was in my eye Deer Becomes the Hare..... The hare did dance upon the hill A path it made for me Then as I climbed it ran away And turned into a tree Deer Becomes the Hare.... The Hawthorne tree stood on the hill A lonely place to grow It greeted me with greening buds As it flew into a crow Deer Becomes the Hare.... The crow it flew into the sky And called so I could hear I am the crow the hare and tree But first I was the deer Chorus: Deer becomes the hare Hare becomes the tree Tree becomes the crow Crow becomes the deer Deer becomes the hare (echoed) Deer becomes the hare (echoed) Deer becomes the hare (echoed)

Zittu zitte chianu chiane Chist’ammore se ne va ‘mmieze e ‘vvie - sotto ‘a luna Cammenanno se ne va Nu dulore piccerille Cresce e vola e cerca a ‘tte E chiagnenno sulo sulo Dinto ‘o scuro se ne va ‘Nu dulore - piccerille…etc English Translation: ‘Quietly quietly’ Quietly quietly, slowly slowly this love walks away In the moonlight, along the streets – walking away it goes. A heart ache – only little Grows and flies off, looking for you And crying, all alone, in the dark walks along.

Sometimes when the world seems barren And the trees have lost their leaves I will seek out a new dawn When I Fly When I Fly Sometimes when the wind blows cold And dark is the night of my soul Towards the light I'll go When I Fly When I Fly Sometimes when the stream is frozen And life seems locked away Then hope shall burn within me When I Fly When I Fly Sometimes when the path seems hidden And my sight is lost in doubt The way that I seek is in me When I Fly When I Fly

English Translation: ‘Beyond the Wall’ Never go where the sun rises – once you have seen it nothing will be enough Never go looking for flowers beyond the wall – once you climb over you’ll never come back and… Never gaze beyond the hill – what you discover there will drag you away Never peek beyond the horizon – the wider the world becomes, the more lost you will be Never follow the thread of your questions – with whom will you share all the answers? Never challenge the safe edges – those who live beside you will not follow you, and… Do not desire the fire of life – for it is light and force but it burns bridges and paths But if you long to go because your heart is calling – hold your fear tight in, wait for the wind and go…

The blackbird sang in my heart just now To the glow of the evening sky Whilst the robin voiced his wistful tale Of a sun that will slowly die. The badger sways in a shadowy dance As the moon becomes his light For the sun she falls from an ending day To sleep all through the night. Soon dawn will come and wake the sun So she shall rise again All hearts will gladden at her face And take away all pain.

about

This album is born from the spring of two intertwining streams of music - Edward's myths and landscapes of Northern England and Filomena's rhythm and melancholic poetry of Southern Italy.
All of the pieces are their original compositions, written and sung in English, Italian and Neapolitan (Filomena) and composed and played on classical guitars, bodhran, flute and handpan. These bring together a fusion of world, folk and classical roots that is evocative, imaginative and unique.
